Noah hayes

MAY 11, 1999 – JUNE 3, 2018

Noah, a 16-year-old varsity lacrosse player from North Carolina, was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer of the bones and soft tissue. The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation went to his hometown and held a clinic in his honor. The funds raised were donated to Noah and his family. Noah could not attend school or play lacrosse his junior year as he underwent 52 weeks of chemotherapy. Noah was cleared to return to school late summer of 2016 and returned to play for his lacrosse team. He played his first pre-season tournament in Charlotte and was on his way to a successful season in the goal.

On March 2, 2017, Noah went for a routine scan that showed his cancer had returned in multiple areas. Despite that devastating news, Noah had the courage to board the bus with his team that afternoon and travel with them to start in the goal. Noah had a great game, and they only lost by one goal in overtime. Noah went on to play one more game before his high school career came to an end. At Lacrosse Senior Night, CPWLF sent a Jacksonville University signed helmet, an autographed goalie stick from professional player John Galloway and a video compiled by Adam Ghitelman of the 40 best goalies in lacrosse that played on the scoreboard. CPWLF had Noah down to the World Lacrosse Beach Festival in FL, recharged him throughout his journey and let him know we had his back.

The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation supported Noah and our family from the very beginning when Noah was diagnosed. Casey reached out to us not long after Noah was diagnosed. Noah went in and out of remission several times, but when he relapsed soon after returning to school and the sport he loved, Casey once again went above and beyond. In a matter of days, Casey pulled together a beautiful YouTube Video of Lacrosse Players across the United States wishing Noah well on Senior Night as the school honored Noah by retiring his #46 jersey. He also sent Noah a new autographed goalie stick and autographed helmet. Noah was thrilled.

Casey also flew us out to Florida in August of 2017 for The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation Beach Festival. Noah got to meet so many great players and spent lots of time talking to Casey and JoJo War Drummer.

Our family is so appreciative of all the support that Casey provided to Noah, and we feel blessed that he still keeps in touch with us and still honors Noah’s memory.
