DANNY MCMANUS

MARCH 23, 2007 – JUNE 1, 2019

Danny, an exceptional 10-year-old lacrosse player from Armonk, NY, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2016. He underwent two stem cell transplants and was in the hospital for several months after each one. Casey visited Danny in the hospital and spent a couple of hours with Danny hanging out, talking, tossing the lacrosse ball around and playing video games. Casey connected Danny with CPWLF Ambassador Josh Rubinstein who had also suffered from acute myeloid leukemia, and Casey, Josh and his dad Jon were all able to visit Danny in the hospital. Josh remained in contact with Danny throughout his battle. CPWLF connected the Oak Knoll girls’ lacrosse team with Danny to support him and cheer him on during their spring 2019 season. They sent him many uplifting videos and wore DM on their sleeves to play hard for Danny in every game and ultimately won the championship for Danny.

CPWLF sent autographed Powell Lacrosse sticks to Danny and his amazing older brother Colin, and Casey kept in touch with Danny throughout his journey, calling and texting him often. For Danny’s 12th Birthday, CPWLF had several professional lacrosse players and ambassadors send Danny video birthday messages.

CPWLF also donated a Syracuse jersey and a limited edition Powell Lacrosse stick, both signed by Casey, Ryan and Mike Powell, for a fundraising event held by Danny’s mother. We continue to support the McManus family, especially Danny’s beloved brother Colin, a fearless lacrosse player himself.
