CPWLF PURSE AUCTION 2022 HONORARY GUEST

Guest of Honor, Julie Boglione, with CP

Audrey Hepburn is credited with the following quote: “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I’m possible”.

Julie Boglione has devoted many years to proving this to be true. As the founder and President of Breaking Barriers Lacrosse, Julie assembled a team of volunteers in Rochester, NY who believed in the mission of providing an authentic lacrosse experience to kids and persons of all abilities. Julie’s vision was to bring the adaptive version of the medicine game to kids who might never have had the experience of being on a team.  As a para-professional working in Special Ed, Julie saw firsthand the need for these valuable experiences for kids of all abilities and thus Breaking Barriers was born.

Julie and her team spent countless hours putting together camps and clinics for Breaking Barriers athletes and networked with amateur and professional Lacrosse players to make these experiences valuable. Julie opened the eyes of the lacrosse world to the idea that everything is indeed possible!

How should I start?  She says, Routine mammogram end of March,  April was diagnosed with cancer.  In May, we found out I was stage 4 with metastasis to lymph nodes in arm pit, spine (L2) and sternum along with an additional tumor in my breast.  I have had a few procedures, one putting me into medically induced menopause as my cancer is hormone driven.  I also have a fractured sternum from the cancer.

Julie continues to fight this battle like the bad bitch she is with her strong husband and incredible 2 daughters and college lax playing son all by her side, She now has the Casey Powell world Lacrosse foundation and all of you on her side. She will not fight this alone.
