TO THE MOMS

BY SUE POWELL

To the Moms,

I think about you so often. Recently, I have been writing a few blogs for the CPWLF, sharing my thoughts and experiences. What I haven’t written about yet is each of you. So, I want to address the fact that sometimes life is a little rough, and we know that unfortunately, you are all too familiar with that. I want you to know that we know that this is one of those times for you and your family.

We moms have much in common, having all done similar things for our child athletes. We have sat in bleachers, and in lawn chairs, in the rain and the snow, and with the wind blowing so hard you can’t keep a hat on. We have packed lunches, washed uniforms, gotten up early, provided rides and tucked some money away in case the bus stops after the game. We have dropped off forgotten cleats and mouthpieces to the school office. We have clapped and cheered for a good play or a win. We have hugged and consoled after the disappointment of a loss. But now you are being asked to lift, support, and make your child feel safe, in their time of need – a huge job, one that no one would ask for.

The greatest thing that we can do for you is to let you know that we care and make an effort to engage the whole lacrosse community in a movement of love, kindness and prayer for you and your family. Our caring is meant to somehow magically make everything a little less hard. With this said, please reach out to any of us at the foundation.  Remember, God hears our prayers, and the foundation is praying for you really hard today. Use your superpower! You’re not alone!

Love, Sue
