A Window View

Two people sit side by side looking out the window. Snow is falling and accumulating. Person #1 is frantic with negative thoughts. What if the roads are bad? It’s so cold out, I don’t even want to go outside. I have to shovel and snow blow. I just want to go back to bed.

Person #2 is filled with wonder, thinking the blanket of white is so beautiful. The sledding and skiing will be awesome. Let’s make a snowman and drink hot chocolate.

The take-away from this is neither person #1 or #2 can stop the snow from falling, but our internal attitude can put a completely opposite spin on that same view out that window. I write this from upstate New York on a snowy and very cold day, and I ask myself, “What is my view going to be?” We all have a choice. That choice can and will make a profound impact on our lives.  I don’t pretend to always see the wonder, and lots of times, negative thoughts are with me, but I do acknowledge that I learned that positivity sure beats out negativity every time. Have a great day. I will end here and go drink my hot chocolate before it gets cold.
